Kalam to visit Rajasthan

JAIPUR DEC. 21. The President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, will be arriving here on a two-day visit tomorrow. In his first trip to the State after assuming office, Dr. Kalam will visit southern as well as western parts of Rajasthan and to see for himself the impact of drought in the rural areas of Udaipur, Barmer and Jaisalmer.

On arrival at the Sanganer airport, Dr. Kalam will inaugurate a national seminar on cancer at the Bhagwan Mahavir Cancer Hospital and Research Centre here. The Governor, Justice Anshuman Singh, will host a lunch in the President's honour. He is also scheduled to meet selected visitors.

Dr. Kalam will go to Udaipur in the afternoon. He will visit drought relief works at Malwa Ka Chouraha, Khokaria Ki Nala, Pabti, Bekaria and Luharcha and inspect a students hostel. He is also scheduled to meet the beneficiaries of the Antyodaya Anna Yogna of the district.

The President who would be flying to Barmer on Sunday evening will meet people there and sit with physically challenged persons. On Monday, Dr. Kalam will visit the Rajiv Gandhi Golden Jubilee Patshala at Bhildi village in Barmer. He will also inspect water conservation projects, relief works and road construction activities. At Bhijrad village, the President will visit a cattle camp and meet young girls at a Lok Jumbish literacy programme.

In Jaisalmer, he is scheduled to visit a fodder depot at Devikot and examine a mid-day meal programme at the Government school there.
