CBI team leaves for Malaysia

New Delhi Dec. 6. A two-member CBI team tonight headed for Kuala Lumpur to assist the Malaysian authorities in the extradition case against Italian businessman, Ottavio Quattrocchi, an accused in the multi-crore Bofors payoff scam.

CBI sources said the two consisting of a senior official and a law officer from the agency's prosecution wing would brief the Malaysian Law Ministry officials about the case.

The CBI team's trip to Kuala Lumpur comes in the wake of a Malaysian sessions court rejecting its plea for Mr. Quattrocchi's extradition to India in connection with the Bofors case. The Malaysian authorities have already filed an appeal in the High Court.
