Vajpayee to campaign in Vadodara today

New Delhi Dec. 6. Dismissing reports that the Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, has asked BJP leaders not to come to Gujarat for campaigning, the party today released the tour programme of the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, the Deputy Prime Minister, L.K. Advani, and a number of Central Ministers, including Murali Manohar Joshi and Sushma Swaraj.

Mr. Vajpayee would be addressing two meetings tomorrow in Vadodra and Jamnagar and two more in Surat and Ahmedabad on December 9.

Party spokesman, V.K. Malhotra, said besides Mr. Vajpayee and Mr. Advani, the Central Ministers who would address election meetings include Pramod Mahajan, Shatrughan Sinha, Sahib Singh Verma and the party president, M. Venkaiah Naidu.

By the end of the election campaign on December 10, about 20 top party leaders would have addressed over 50 meetings across the State with the Central leaders covering almost every district.

He accused the Congress of polarising the communities by playing the communal card.

``We are confident of regaining power in the State as we are projecting the achievements of the Modi Government,'' Mr. Malhotra said.

However, he declined to say why Syed Shahnawaz Hussain and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi were not visiting the State for campaigning.
