BJP ahead in Gujarat: opinion poll

New Delhi Dec. 6. The BJP is still ahead in the race for the Gujarat Assembly but the Congress is closing in having gained three per cent vote share in four weeks, says an opinion poll sponsored by India Today-Aaj Tak.

The poll, conducted by ORG-MARG this month, gives BJP 100 to 110 seats in the 182-member Assembly with a 52 per cent vote share, while a survey conducted last month projected 120 to 130 seats for BJP with a 55 per cent share. The Congress has been projected in the survey to get between 70 and 80 seats against 45 and 55 in the November survey. The survey, to be carried in the latest issue of the magazine, says the campaign indicates that while the BJP looks set for its successive election victory the scale may not be as spectacular.
