Housing Board official dismissed

HYDERABAD Dec. 2. The State Government today dismissed an Executive Engineer of AP State Housing Board, Hyderabad, M. Narayana, from service following his conviction in a corruption case.

Mr. Narayana was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on January 21, 1997, when he accepted Rs. 10,000 bribe from a contractor while working as the Housing Board EE in Warangal, according to a press release. The Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Hyderabad, sentenced him to undergo one year rigorous imprisonment and pay Rs. 1,000 fine in the corruption case.

Suspended

An Assistant Engineer in the Kukatpally Municipality, Sudershan, was suspended for alleged negligence, following which a child slipped into an uncovered septic tank in Zinkalawada area and died.

On being told of the incident, the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, ordered senior officials to enquire into the matter and take action on negligent officials. Action has been taken to survey all the septic tanks in Kukatpally municipal area and cover them wherever found necessary, according to a press release from the Chief Minister's Office.
