This Day That Age
A Srinagar report dated 13th said that Yuvaraj Karan Singh, Regent of Jammu and Kashmir, had formally agreed to become the first elected Head of the State, `Sadan-i-Riyasat'. His election was to be announced on November 14. The Yuvaraj's was the only name duly proposed and seconded by Sheikh Abdullah and Mr. Giridharilal Dogra respectively. Sheikh Abdullah was expected to make a statement in the Assembly, and hold a reception in honour of the Sadan-i-Riyasat. Mr. Karan Singh was to be sworn in on November 17 by the Chief Justice of the State.
