Pact with Tigers

Nakhon Pathom (Thailand) Nov. 1. Making a significant breakthrough in their peace talks today, the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam and Sri Lankan Government agreed on a framework to seek millions of dollars of foreign aid to rebuild the country and also on the composition of a joint development committee for the areas which were affected by nearly two decades of the ethnic conflict.

The agreement came during the second day of the talks.

"We have reason to be satisfied with the outcome of talks this morning... .We have come with a structure that will be acceptable to the international donor," the government's chief negotiator, G. L. Pieris said.
