BCPL-IOC liquid cargo jetty commissioned

MUMBAI OCT. 4. A state-of-the-art liquid oil jetty developed jointly by Bharat Petroleum Corporation (BPCL) and the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) was formally commissioned by the Union Petroleum Minister, Ram Naik, and the Shipping Minister, Vedprakash Goyal, here today.

Built at a cost of Rs. 150 crores, the jetty is already operational for the last nine months and was completed in 30 months, six months ahead of schedule.

Mr. Naik said with the setting up of this jetty, the Ministry had ensured uninterrupted availability of petroleum products in the country, especially through Mumbai for handling increased volume of import/export of crude and petroleum products to meet the demand projection in 2006-07. — PTI
