Pak. poll chief directive to Govt.

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD Sept. 24. Amidst complaints by the European Union (E.U.) election observers of "non co-operation" by the provincial authorities, the Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan has directed the Federal and provincial Governments to provide necessary facilities, including security, to international observers.

In his directive, the CEC, Irshad Hasan Khan, has emphasised the need for total co-operation with international election observers to "facilitate their objective of visit to polling stations and to witness transparency of election process".
