Haryana IPS officer held

NEW DELHI SEPT. 5. The Haryana Inspector-General of Police, Harish Kumar, accused of smuggling and evading customs duty worth Rs. 50 crore, was arrested by the Delhi police today.

He had been accused by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) of smuggling metal scrap and ingots and a case was filed against him on August 7 last year. He was also accused of running two factories registered in the name of his wife and father-in-law, sources said.

Raids were conducted on his premises which revealed his dealings. A warrant under COFEPOSA was issued against him and his detention ordered on June 14. .
