3 killed, nine injured in road accidents

BANGALORE AUG. 12. Three people were killed and nine injured in three accidents in Bangalore City and Bangalore Rural District on Sunday.

Madhamma (86) of Magadi taluk was killed on the spot when the jeep in which she and others were travelling collided with a factory bus at 6th Main junction in Kengeri Satellite Township at around 10.30 p.m. Eight people were injured. The Kengeri police have seized both the vehicles and registered a case.

A boy aged around 15 years was killed when he was hit by a lorry on Mysore Road in the Jnanabharathi police station limits on Sunday afternoon. He has not been identified.

Siddalinga Swamy (22) was killed when his motorcycle hit a tree near Kambala village in Kanakapura police station limits in Bangalore Rural District. The pillion rider was injured in the accident, which occurred Swamy and his friend were on their way to the Kambalamma temple on Sunday night, police said.

Held for gambling

A team of Bangalore City Crime Branch (CCB) officers raided a videogame parlour at RMN Layout in Sadashivanagar police station limits and arrested its owner, Purushottam (31), on charges of gambling. Police seized videogame gadgets and other goods worth Rs. 1.5 lakh from the shop.

Dacoity foiled

The Kalasipalya police have nabbed a six-member gang which was planning to commit dacoity on Sunday night. They seized weapons from the gangsters.

The names of the arrested were given as Krishna (20) of Goods Shed Road, Manikanta (20) of Thigalarapet, Imtiyaz (38) of Shanthinagar, Wajid (49) of Kanakapura, Dhamu (35) of Anjanappa Garden, and Thanu (24) of Tannery Road.

Merchant robbed

Harish, a fruit merchant, was robbed of Rs. 24,000 by three persons on the Ring Road in Kumaraswamy Layout on Sunday night.

Youth held

Ramesh, a youth in Marenahalli in J.P. Nagar, threw acid on a 16-year-old girl on Monday, because she rejected his advances. Police have arrested Ramesh.
