Seminar begins

PATHANAMTHITTA Aug. 12. The former Supreme Court Judge, K.T.Thomas, inaugurated a three-day seminar on globalisation, education and ethics jointly organised by the Kozhencherry St. Thomas College and the National Council of Churches in India (NCCI) as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the college at the college auditorium this forenoon.

The NCCI general secretary, Fr. Ipe Joseph, presided over the inaugural function and M.A.Oommen of the Indian Institute of Social Sciences, New Delhi, delivered the keynote address on `An overview of globalisation'.

The college principal, P.J.Philip, the former Union Minister, P.J.Kurien, and Thomas Oommen also spoke.

V.Mathew Kurien, former principal of the Pazhanji MD College delivered a lecture on `Agriculture and industry'. S.Muralidharan of Kasaragod Government College spoke on `Employment and social security' and P.S.Mohanakumar of Kalady Sankara College on `Our banking and insurance', in the afternoon session. A seminar on `Education on the cross roads' will be held tomorrow and another seminar on `Religions, institutions and ethics' will be held on Wednesday. B.Ekbal, Vice-Chancellor of the Kerala University, will open the valedictory session on Wednesday.
