Separatists condemn Jammu massacre

SRINAGAR JULY 14. The All-Party Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has condemned the massacre in Qasim Nagar, Jammu, in which 27 persons were killed on Saturday and demanded an impartial probe at the international level.

The APHC spokesperson told reporters here that the Hurriyat condemned the attack in unequivocal terms and whosoever was involved in the killing of the innocent, unarmed people had committed a crime against humanity. "We are deeply shocked and convey our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,'' he said adding that the APHC had always condemned such incidents. But the Government of India had often blamed the people here and there and surprisingly the "Indian media too has also played a partial role in this regard.'' There was a major conspiracy behind such acts as they were carried out at the significant time and place. It was aimed at derailing any process set in motion to resolve the Kashmir conflict.

The People's Conference chairman, Sajjad Lone, has termed the attack barbarous. ``Only enemies of Islam, humanity and `Kashmiriat' can be behind such brutal killings,'' he said adding "these killings are an ugly reminder of the culture of death prevalent in the State.'' In a statement to a local news agency, KPS, the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen chief commander, Saiful Islam, has condemned the killings and blamed the "Indian Intelligence agencies'' for the attack to defame the ``just and genuine'' struggle of the Kashmiris.

The Jamat-e-Islami spokesperson, Zahid Ali, said, "we are deeply shocked over the killing of the innocent in Jammu.'' The Jammu And Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party chief, Shabir Shah, has also expressed grief over the killings and said, "my heart bleeds for those who have been killed mercilessly.''
