Communications adviser for CM

By Our Special Correspondent

Bangalore July 12. The Chief Minister, S.M. Krishna, will have an adviser on communications, and M.B. Jayaram , Chief of Corporate Communications in the Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd., has been chosen for it. Mr. Jayaram will hold both posts, according to a Government communiqué. Till now, Mr. Krishna was one of the few chief ministers to function without a press secretary or adviser on communications. The post of press secretary to the Chief Minister was created in the late 1960s when Veerendra Patil became the Chief Minister for the first time. The noted Kannada journalist, P.B. Srinivasan, had been appointed at that time. The Chief Minister's Press section is now manned by a deputy director and an assistant director from the Department of Information.
