Rolta shares fall on scam rumours

MUMBAI JULY 11. The software firm Rolta India's shares tumbled on the Bombay Stock Exchange on rumours of an accounting scam which the company has promptly denied.

Rolta India's scrip crashed by Rs. 25.05 to Rs. 121.75 over the previous close, accompanied by a huge volume of 92.55 lakh shares as rumour spread that the company had inflated its sales figure and profit. It has recorded a sales turnover of over Rs. 300 crore for the financial year 2001.

This included Rs. 76.03 crores, the cost of self-assembled and integrated capital equipment transferred to the company's own divisions. — UNI
