CM comes to the help of stranded commuters

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI JULY 5. The Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, today witnessed the impact of a broken down MTC bus on Dr.Radhakrishnan Salai flyover, and stopped at the spot, to order immediate relief measures for the stranded commuters.

Ms.Jayalalithaa who was returning to Poes Garden from the Secretariat this evening noticed the broken down Perambur-bound bus from Besant Nagar (29-A) near the Dr.Radhakrishnan Flyover.

Taking her security personnel and the stranded bus passengers by complete surprise, the Chief Minister took a `U' turn and came to the stranded MTC bus.

She enquired directly with the bus crew about the problem in the vehicle. The crew explained that an `oil block' in the engine had caused the problem.

Ms.Jayalalitha immediately directed the authorities to arrange an alternative bus for the stranded passengers and gave instructions for removing the broken down bus.

Much to the relief of the bus commuters, she informed them that an alternative bus was being arranged to help them continue their journey.
