Rs. 70-cr development works in Neyyattinkara

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM JUNE 28. Development activities to the tune of Rs. 70 crores will be undertaken in Neyyattinkara this year, said Thampanoor Ravi, MLA. The court complex in Neyyattinkara, constructed at a cost of Rs. 4 crores, will be inaugurated by the Chief Justice of Kerala, Justice B. N. Sreekrishna, here on June 29.

The 60,000-sq ft. building, which was constructed with the Centre's aid, has eight court rooms with chambers, rooms for advocates, rest rooms for the public, records room, legal aid cell, staff recreation rooms and a central open courtyard.

The inaugural function will be chaired by the Revenue Minister, K.M. Mani. The Public Works Minister, M. K. Muneer, will hand over the keys to the building. Mr. Muneer will also open the Palakkadavu bridge, constructed at Rs. 1 crore, connecting Neyyattinkara to the near-by areas.

Work on the new bridge at Amaravila, being constructed at a cost of Rs. 5 crores, and the Rs. 3-crore Arakkunnukadavu bridge, will be completed by Onam. The work on the Pasuvannara- Aruvikkara bridge will begin in the first week of July, he said. The other works awaiting inauguration in Neyyattinkara taluk are the Pirayammoodu-Vattavila bridge and Ottasekharamangalam- Olattimoodu-Valiavazhi road. Administrative sanction has been given for the Amaravila-Ottasekharamangalam road, the Neyyattainkara-Marayamuttam road and the Parassala-Panachamoodu road.

About Rs. 41 lakhs has been allotted from the flood relief fund for the reconstruction of roads in the landslip-prone areas of Amboori, Rs. 15 lakhs for other roads and Rs. 25 lakhs from the MLA's fund for various development activities.

Under the Prime Minister's Grama Sadak Yojana, a sum of Rs. 28 lakhs has been allotted to Athiyannoor panchayat and Rs. 44 lakhs from the Tribal Sub-plan to Amboori panchayat.
