Paswan visits riot-hit areas in Ahmedabad

By Manas Dasgupta

AHMEDABAD May 8. The former Union Minister, Ram Vilas Paswan, who visited the riot-affected areas here, expressed strong dissatisfaction over the Centre's reluctance to replace the Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, and said its "experiment'' with Mr. Modi was proving ``very costly'' both for the State and the country.

He said the Centre by repeatedly giving a "clean chit'' to Mr. Modi was aggravating the situation and added that if the Chief Minister was not to be blamed for the deteriorating law and order situation, the Centre must accept the responsibility. He wondered why the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, was defending Mr. Modi and bringing the country's name into disrepute.

A similar sentiment was also expressed by the secretary of the Indian Union of Muslim League, E. Ahmed, a member of the Lok Sabha from Kerala.
