President greets Chirac

NEW DELHI
MAY 7.
The President, K.R. Narayanan, today congratulated the French President, Jacques Chirac, who was reelected with a wide margin earlier this week.
"The level of popular participation and electoral support behind your historic victory demonstrates the continuing confidence of the people of France in your leadership'', Mr. Narayanan said in his message.
"The warm and friendly relations between our two countries have seen remarkable progress under your dynamic leadership. New initiatives have enabled us to broaden and deepen our dialogue. I am confident that our close bilateral ties will be further strengthened and consolidated in the years to come''.
