The Inspector-General of Police, Jammu range, P.L. Gupta, told reporters here that the police got an intelligence input on April 17 that the militants had checked in at a hotel near the city bus stand. But the militants escaped when police arrived. On the basis of the information got from hotel staff, a police team was formed to track down the militants, and the team arrested the two Basharat Majid Mir, a resident of Kupwara district and Bashir Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Punjwa from the periphery of Jammu city on Saturday. According to police, the militants originally belonged to the Hizb-ul-Mujhaideen.
