Talking to presspersons here today, Mr. Sudhakaran said Mr. Mani's statement on the controversial land was transparent and true. The CPI(M), which was now targeting Mr. Mani and demanding his resignation from the Cabinet, was playing politics as the encroachment of the prime forest land by some people having high connections had started several years ago and continued during the previous LDF rule, the Minister said. Some CPI(M) men had also been involved in the land grabbing in the nearby Thonimala area, he said. Stating that the encroachment of forest areas would not be allowed by the UDF Government, Mr. Sudhakaran said he was of the personal view that Mathikettan Shola should be left under the control of one department.
