HYDERABAD, APRIL 8. The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has condemned the attack on journalists at the Sabarmati Gandhi ashram in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Terming the attack "inhuman" he said that the people in public life should not lose composure in the face of "sensational happenings". In the course of an address to a Telugu Desam training camp here today, he said he had talked to the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, and reminded him of his "responsibility" to restore normality in Gujarat and "we will be with you in your efforts". He said the immediate need was restoration of normality, peace and security for the people, rehabilitation of victims of riots and stern action against the guilty. The question of change of leadership would come later. Notwithstanding the Telugu Desam's support to the NDA, it never compromised on its commitment to secularism and spoke out fearlessly whenever it was threatened. The party believed that the solution to Ayodhya issue lay in a judicial verdict. All parties should wait for and abide by it, Mr. Naidu said.
