The chargesheet, running to 2,000 pages including documents, was filed by the Assistant Commissioner, T.Nagar (law and order), V. Rajendran, before Vijayakant, XVII Metropolitan Magistrate. Nine persons, including the doctor and his brother, Pradeep, were cited as accused in the chargesheet, filed for offences under 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 307 (attempt to murder) IPC, Section 67 of the Information Technology Act, Sections 4 and 5 of the Indecent Representation of Women Act, Sections 5 and 6 of the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking in Women Act and 27 of the Arms Act. Seventy persons were cited as prosecution witnesses. The charge was that the doctor brought young girls to his farmhouse at Kalanjikuppam (near Ennore) and asked them to undress themselves. Those who refused were threatened with a revolver and made to submit themselves. The doctor took pictures even as the girls were forced to engage in sex. He opened fire to put fear in the victims. The pornographic pictures taken were put on a web site and transmitted, and used commercially, the chargesheet said. Besides the sensational nature of the case, it is perhaps for the first time that the newly-enacted Information Technology Act is being incorporated for the offences mentioned in the chargesheet. According to a senior city police officer, an estimated one lakh pictures are suspected to have been taken by the doctor. He won the confidence of unsuspecting girls and women, who came to him for treatment or seeking jobs, and used them for his ``nefarious activities''. The police had to tread cautiously as several of the girls were gullible and had fallen prey to the doctor's evil designs, he said.
