`Kambla' to be held today

MANGALORE MARCH 8. The "kambla" (buffalo race) will be held at Kavalkatte on Saturday.

Over 180 pairs of buffalos will participate in the race, according to B.Ramanatha Rai, Minister for Ports and Fisheries.

The "Muduru-Paduru Jodukere Kambla" is being organised by the people of the two villages. Shivaraj Kumar, Sriram Kumar, Vinod Alva, Doddanna, Ruchita Prasad, and Gurukiran, film stars, and the former cricketer, Sayyad Kirmani, will participate in the function. Oscar Fernandes, MP, Veerappa Moily, former Chief Minister, Allum Veerabhadrappa, KPCCI President, Cherkalam Abdullah, Kerala minister, C.R. Sageer Ahmad, Transport Minister, Kumar Bangarappa, Minister of State for Water Resources, T.John, Bangalore Development Minister, and M.M. Nanaiah, Minister of State for Excise, will also take part in the function.

The "kambla" will be inaugurated by the Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala, D.Veerendra Heggade.
