Heavy rain in Thanjavur dt.

CHENNAI, FEB. 2. Several parts of the State in the Thanjavur-Nagapattinam district received very heavy rainfall during the 24 hours ending 8-30 a.m. today as the trough of low pressure persisted over south Sri Lanka and neighbourhood.

Nagapattinam recorded the highest rainfall of 23 cm, followed by Tirutaraipoondi - 21 cm, Aranthangi - 20 cm and Needamangalam and Karaikal - 19 cm each.

Isolated heavy to very heavy rains have been forecast over coastal Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry during the next 24 hours.
