Missile plan `totally indigenous': Pak.
By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD, FEB. 2. Pakistan has asserted that its missile programme is ``totally indigenous'' and strongly denied reports that it had received any assistance from China.

``There is no truth in that report,'' the Foreign Office spokesman, Aziz Ahmed Khan, told a news conference here when asked to comment on a story in the U.S. media that China continues to help Pakistan in its missile technology.

Mr. Khan said similar allegations had been made in the past and were refuted by both Pakistan and China. The Chinese Government had also categorically stated that it had not supplied to Pakistan any missile technology or missiles in violations of its undertaking and commitment in the context of the Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR). On the comments of the U.S. President, George W Bush about Iran, the spokesman said Pakistan had very close and friendly relations with Iran.
