JIPMER doctor selected for ICMR scientist award

PONDICHERRY, NOV. 30. The Associate Professor of Physiology in the Centrally-administered JIPMER here, Dr. Gopal Krushna Pal, has been selected for the ICMR Scientist Award for his outstanding contribution in biomedical research for the year 1998.
A communication in this regard has been sent by the Director General of ICMR, Prof. N.K. Ganguly.
The award, which includes a cash prize, gold medal and citation, relates to Dr. Pal's work in neurophysiology of food and water intake.
Dr. Pal told this Correspondent on Wednesday that he would be presented the award at the annual convocation of the ICMR in New Delhi early next year. He had been engaged consistently in the field of neurophysiology vis-a-vis intake of food and drinking water.
He bagged the Dr. N. Padmanabhan Memorial Award from the Indian Association of Biomedical Scientists for the year 1991 and the A.V. Tilak Parvathi Devi Prize from the Association of Physiologists and Pharmacologists of India for the year 1998.
