Hone your skills, administrative machinery told
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, NOV. 30. The supervisory staff and the officers at the middle-level of administrative machinery should hone their skills and develop efficiency as that alone would make the Government ensure better results, the Chief Secretary to Pondicherry administration, Mr. T.T. Joseph, today said.
He was addressing a batch of 30 superintendents of Government departments and assistants on the concluding day of their five-day training programme on `office management, office procedure, noting and drafting'.
The course was conducted by the Institute of Secretariat Training and Management (ISTM), New Delhi, in collaboration with the Administrative Reforms Wing of Pondicherry administration.
Stressing that training and administrative reforms always went hand in hand, the Chief Secretary said that care should be taken that this slogan was not used as mere cliche and one must take it seriously.
Mr. Josep said that the role of the supervisory officers in the running of a Government was so crucial that they should keep themselves abreast of newer developments, judicial decisions and case laws.
Mr. S.C. Sen, Joint Director of the ISTM, and Ms. Jayanti Sriram, its Assistant Director, felicitated the participants for the enthusiasm and keen interest shown by them to make the programme a success.
Mr. M. Arunachalam, Deputy Secretary to Pondicherry administration, said a training course on financial management would be held in January next year for senior and junior accounts officers of various departments.
Mrs. Dharmambal welcomed and Mr. D. Selvaraj proposed a vote of thanks.
