Cong. sees no threat to Pondy Govt.
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, NOV. 13. The Congress today exuded confidence and
asserted that the Rangaswamy Government in Pondicherry was
stable, despite the decision of the AIADMK to withdraw its
support to the government.
``The (Pondicherry) government is stable and there is no danger
to it. We are not aware why the AIADMK decided to withdraw
support,'' the AICC Secretary, Mr. Ramesh Chennithala, incharge
of party affairs in Pondicherry, told The Hindu, here.
He said the Cabinet still had two vacancies, hinting that the
grievance of the AIADMK of not finding a place in the Government
cold be addressed to.
``The discussions were going on (for participation), between the
Congress and AIADMK there'', he said. Mr. Chennithala said he was
in touch with the Chief Minister and the Pondicherry PCC Chief,
Mr. V. Narayanaswamy.
Meanwhile, Mr. Chennithala said today the Pondicherry Makkal
Congress leader, Mr. P Kannan, met the Congress President, Ms.
Sonia Gandhi, and invited her to address the party's merger rally
next month, which she had agreed to.
