AICC reviews performance of Digvijay Singh, Jogi

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, NOV. 13. The Chief Ministers of Chhatisgarh and Madhya Pradesh today made an appearance at the All-India Congress Committee office as the party reviewed their performance against the promises made in the manifestoes.

The Chhatisgarh Chief Minister, Mr. Ajit Jogi, who met the AICC general secretary, Ms. Mohsina Kidwai, said his year-old State Government got an opportunity to fine-tune its policies within the contours of the Congress policies and ideological commitments.

Mr. Jogi said the State Government's efforts were made on the basis of a document prepared when Madhya Pradesh was undivided. Chhattisgarh came into being last November.

Apparently, the Chief Minister said the Government had been able to fulfill only sixty per cent of the commitments made in the manifesto. In the case of Madhya Pradesh, it stood at over 80 per cent as the Government has had a longer tenure.

The recent dissidence being faced by the Chhatisgarh Chief Minister found a mention with the AICC emphasising on the need to carry every one along. Trouble began brewing when some Ministers in Mr. Jogi's Cabinet suggested that he step down after the National Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe Commission questioned the Chief Minister's tribal status.
