SHILLONG, NOV. 12. The BJP today withdrew from the E.K. Mawlong
Ministry in Meghalaya protesting ``corruption in high places''
but said it would continue to support the coalition from outside.
The Education (high and technical) and IT Minister, Mr. T.H.
Rangad, whose Home portfolio was taken away by Mr. Mawlong during
a Cabinet reshuffle on November 9, the Art and Culture Minister,
Mr. A.L. Hek, and the Chairman of the Meghalaya Industrial
Development Corporation, Mr. N.N. Simchang, submitted their
resignation to the Governor, Mr. M.M. Jacob, according to their
letter circulated to the press.
