Chauhan's punishment reduced

The Board of Appeal of the Hyderabad Race Club, at its meeting held here on Thursday, resolved to reduce the punishment meted out to jockey M. Chauhan by restoring his licence for the season 2001-2002. However it suspended him from riding in races up to and including December 31.

Chauhan, represented by S. Marshall, had appealed against the Stewards' decision to withdraw his licence from October 17, 2001 to March 31, 2002 (both days inclusive) for not permitting his mount, Lincoln Park, to run on its merits in the Raja Saheb of Challapalli Memorial Cup on September 22, 2001.
