Misuse of public money
Sir, - For the last more than ten days, the people, particularly
in Kerala, are helplessly watching the callous misuse of public
money in the State Assembly. On a daily basis, the Opposition
MLAs move into the well of the House and shout slogans completely
disrupting the proceedings. Perhaps the phenomenon is nothing new
to our State Assemblies and Parliament. In August last, the Lok
Sabha witnessed the same cruel game. An all-party meeting
convened by the Speaker decided to penalise members for such
behaviour with automatic suspension and cut in daily allowance.
The House proceedings were conducted in perfect order from the
next day. I request the Kerala Assembly Speaker and leaders of
political parties to follow the example of the Lok Sabha.
P.R.V. Raja,
Pandalam, Kerala
