Kidnap victim escapes

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, NOV. 2. The drama over the kidnap of Mr. Ashish Kumar Agarwal came to an end on Friday after the abducted businessman managed to escape from the clutches of the kidnappers in Mumbai. The news of the escape was conveyed to the family members by Mr. Agarwal himself.

The family members, in turn, informed the police here and immediately a team of the Task Force rushed to Mumbai and met Mr. Agarwal. He is expected to reach Hyderabad by Saturday morning.

Though the details of the escape were not available, sources said that within minutes of his escape, the abducted person approached the nearby police station in Mumbai and revealed his identity. The Mumbai police then passed on the information to the AP police.

The City Police Commissioner, Mr. P. Ramulu, announced at a press conference that Mr. Agarwal was `traced in Mumbai today afternoon.' He said that Mr. Agarwal was `safe with our West Zone DCP Mr. Umesh Shroff in Mumbai' and was being `questioned' about his abduction.

Mr. Ramulu declined to divulge any more information on whether Mr. Agarwal was rescued or found. He pointed out that only piecemeal information was available and other details of the breakthrough would be announced on Saturday.
