Two incidents of anthrax in Pak.

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD, NOV. 2. The Press Secretary to the Pakistan President, Maj. Gen. Rashid Qureshi, disclosed here today that two incidents of anthrax had been reported in Pakistan.

``There have been two cases of anthrax from what I have learned so far. One is in a newspaper office and the other in a computer factory or computer laboratory,'' he said at a briefing at the Foreign Ministry.

A Jang reporter received the anthrax spores in an envelope on October 23. On discovering that the envelope contained a white substance, the management sent it for lab tests. On Thursday, it was confirmed that the substance was anthrax. The envelope had been sent by an unnamed social welfare organisation. The paper engaged microbiologists to disinfect its editorial section.
