TCS-Best Buy extend business relationship

CHENNAI, OCT. 30. Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a division of Tata Sons, and the Minneapolies-based Best Buy Co., a speciality retailer of consumer electronics, personal computers, entertainment software and appliances, have extended their business relationship for another five years. They have been partners for the past two years and have jointly worked together in a host of strategically important areas.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. S. Mahalingam, Executive Vice President, TCS, said the partnership, in place since December 1999, had added value to Best Buy through the optimal utilisation of resources to support multiple applications, multiple technology platforms, and by offering permanent solutions to recurring problems. TCS was a support partner of all software application at Best Buy and provided end-to-end development of vital application for entertainment industry. In recognition of the solution provided, TCS received the 'Category Partner of the Year Award' from Best Buy within ten months of the commencement of the relationship, he added.

Mr. Tim Bates , Director, Business Office, Best Buy, said the company had two vendors in the country - Wipro and TCS - handling offshore development, TCS was the only vendor handling application systems maintenances for Best Buy. He said TCS was its first partner. Both were currently exploring newer areas of associations.
