Windows and Office 2000 made easy
A FIRST COURSE IN COMPUTERS - 2000 Edition: Sanjay Saxena; Vikas
Publishing House, 576, Masjid Road, Jangpura, New Delhi-110014.
Rs. 200. (website: www.gobookshopping.com) .
IF LIKE this reviewer, you find the manuals or the on-line help
accompanying most proprietary software packages, difficult to
read, you will welcome a book like the one under review, which
sets itself a simple task: take a widely used operating system
like Windows 2000 and its stable-mate, Office 2000 - and spoon-
feed the contents to the reader, in manageable, pleasant doses.
The "2000 edition" in the title seems to refer to the vintage of
the Windows and Office packages - and not to the year this was
published which is 2001.
The author is the head of a consultancy firm whose clients
include many international bodies. He covers a vast subject
ground - Windows 2000 features, MS Office components like Word,
Excel, PowerPoint, Access, FrontPage Outlook and Publisher, and
throws in an introduction to the Internet.
