A lesson for others
Sir,- Yielding to public protest, the Bangalore Water Supply and
Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has dropped its idea of allotting the work
of II phase of IV stage of Cauvery Water Supply Scheme to Biwater
Consortium of the U.K. and has now decided to take up the work
itself. The scheme requires a simple civil engineering work
falling within the competence of the BWSSB.
The involvement of an outside agency would have only inflated the
cost of the project. The tariff demanded by Biwater is three
times as high as the present rate. Other States should learn from
Karnataka.
