Ban sought on VHP, Bajrang Dal
By Our Staff Reporter
BHUBANESWAR, OCT. 11. The Global Council of Indian Christians has
demanded a ban on the activities of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and
Bajrang Dal and promulgation of an ordinance to stop hate crimes
in the country.
Addressing presspersons here today, Mr. Sajan K. George, national
convener of the Council, alleged that the activities of the two
organisations should be banned as they were conducting firearms
and small arms training camps and were terrorising people in
several parts of the country.
Mr. George also demanded that a Joint Parliamentary Committee be
formed to scrutinise the activities of all such organisations.
The Chief Ministers of different States should be consulted by
the Centre on the issue, he said. About the ban on SIMI, Mr.
George said that the Central Government should have consulted the
Chief Ministers of different States before banning the
organisation.
