Police blamed for attack on scribes at Kumbh Mela

LUCKNOW, OCT. 8. The Press Council of India (PCI) has held police responsible for a lathicharge on journalists during the Kumbh Mela in Allahabad earlier this year and recommended stern action against them.

The two-member fact-finding team of the PCI has recommended action against policemen, including the Superintendent of Police (SP), a member of the PCI team said in a statement on Monday.

The PCI has requested the State Chief Secretary to take action against the policemen.
