Water released for Telugu Ganga ayacut

KURNOOL, OCT. 8. About 100 cusecs of water was released from
Velugodu reservoir for ayacut under Telugu Ganga Project in
Kurnool district on Monday. The flow would be gradually increased
to 600 cusecs.
The Superintending Engineer, Mr. R. Prabhakar Reddy, told
reporters at Nandyal that water supply would be made to 42,000
acres in Velugodu, Bandi Atmakur, Nandyal, Rudravaram, Sirivella
and Mahanandi mandals. He said supply would be ensured till
January 31 to enable farmers to go for early rabi crops.
