Pak. repatriates 31 Indians

By B. Muralidhar Reddy

ISLAMABAD, OCT. 1 Pakistan authorities today repatriated 31 Indians who were arrested in March this year for illegally entering into Pakistan from Iran.

They hailed from Punjab and were sentenced to three months imprisonment for entering Pakistan without valid papers. They were handed over to Indian High Commission officials at Lahore today.

During the repatriation ceremony the Indians told newsmen that they worked in Lebanon for five years. But trouble started when they decided to move towards Greece and other European countries in search of jobs, official APP news agency said.

Mr. Mehar Singh, a resident of Ronokhurd village in Ludhiana district, said the Turkish authorities caught them at the Syria- Turkish border when they attempted to cross over and sent them to Iran. They spent three days there. Later the Iranians told them to go to Pakistan.
