City boys bag Young World painting contest

BANGALORE, SEPT. 30. Dilip J.Hiremath and Punit J.Hiremath of Jyothi Kendriya Vidyalaya here have won the first prizes in The Hindu Young World Painting Competition for 2001 in the Seniors and Juniors categories respectively.

The second prize in the Seniors category has gone to Nikhila K.R. of National Public School, Rajajinagar, while the third prize has been bagged by Irshad of Canara High School, Mangalore.

Among the Juniors, the second prize went to Shreesha Shetty of Sri Vani Education Centre, Basaveshwaranagar here, whereas the third prize has gone to Lakshmi Puranik of MKET School, Harihar.

The following students won consolation prizes: Anish Nair, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Malleswaram, B.R.Manju Gaurav, The East West School, Niranjan Deshpande, National High School, Shilpa S.J., St. Mary's Girls School, S.Kavya, Carmel School (all Bangalore), C.Swaminathan, St. Joseph's Central School, Mysore, Sheetal G., P.S.S.Residential School, Davangere (all Seniors).

And Ankita Bhandary, St. Joseph's Central School, Mysore, Vaibhav B.Kasal, Lourdes Boys School, Davangere, B.U.Vidya, Sri Vani Education Centre, Varsha G.Maragi, Cadambi Vidya Kendra, Nishitha G.S., St. Mira's High School (all Bangalore), R.S.Srilakshmi, Pragati Composite School, Sagar, and Rajiv of Canara High School, Mangalore.
