China for friendly ties with India
BEIJING, SEPT. 30. China is confident of building a friendly and
cooperative relationship with India on the basis of the
`panchsheel agreement' and wants to intensify bilateral exchanges
to promote mutual trust and confidence, a senior Chinese Minister
has said.
``China cherishes the traditional friendship it has with India
and hopes to develop healthy, steady and friendly neighbouring
relations with New Delhi on the basis of the five principles of
peaceful co-existence,'' the Minister of the State Council
Information Office, Mr. Zhao Qizheng, told PTI.
``We hope to continue and intensify exchanges and cooperation in
political, economic, cultural and other fields, especially in the
press,'' Mr. Zhao, who is in charge of China's state-controlled
media, said. ``The two countries have a sound foundation for
developing a friendly and cooperative relationship,'' Mr. Zhao
said.
He stressed that friendly and cooperative Sino-Indian relations
``embody not only the common desires and fundamental interests of
the people of the two countries, but are also conducive to the
peace and stability of Asia and the world as a whole''.
