New attractions at zoo park
HYDERABAD, SEPT. 28. Sunitha, a white tigress of the Nehru
Zoological Park, gave birth to two white tiger cubs recently.
The tigress bred with tiger Rudra, which was acquired from the
Nandankannan Zoo. With this, the zoo had four male and two female
white tigers.
A Malayan Sun bear, Vanaja, also gave birth to a healthy female
cub. Special care was taken to breed the animal in captivity and
this was the first successful breeding of Malayan Sun bears in
the 40-year history of the zoo.
The Nehru Zoological Park had acquired one male and two female
Malayan Sun bears from Pingtung Rescue Centre for Endangered Wild
Animals, Taiwan, in 1998.
