PM takes time off for movie
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, SEPT. 20. Taking a break from the hectic parleys of
the past few days, the Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee,
today watched a movie on Veer Savarkar, one of the founding
fathers of the Sangh Parivar. The film is an effort to rewrite
the past to give Veer Savarkar his ``rightful place in history''.
It was truly an evening out for Mr. Vajpayee. But for a
photographer and a cameraman - who, too, were given limited time
to get their shots - television channels and scribes were kept at
bay; allowing the Prime Minister an uninterrupted evening at the
movie.
The Prime Minister's Cabinet colleagues, who joined him for the
film, included Mr. L.K. Advani, Mr. Pramod Mahajan, Mr. Anantha
Kumar, Mr. Vijay Goel and Ms. Maneka Gandhi, who, as Culture
Minister, was host to the special screening of `Veer Savarkar:
Saga of a Great Revolutionary and Freedom Fighter'. The film
seeks to ``partly undo the injustice done to Veer Savarkar''.
