Advanced software course from Keltron
By Our Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 9. Keltron is introducing a six-month
advanced course in software based on Middleware technology which
is adaptable for any language or platform.
According to a Keltron press release, the course is based on the
latest concept of component object model which is used widely in
higher level software services. It also covers the basics of
Socket Communications required for the futuristic networks called
Distributed Network Architecture. Advanced level programming like
OOPS, GUI, COM/DCOM, Web technologies and protocols are also
included.
The new concept makes it easy to select any computer language
for developing the software, which supports all operating systems
like Macintosh, UNIX, Linus and Windows. Updating of software
will be very comfortable using the new concept, as the entire
programme need not be re-written. It also avoids obsolescence of
the employees due to advancements in technology.
Major system vendors like HP, Digital, Siemens and Silicon
Graphics have announced their plans to ship COM on operating
systems, the press release says. Also, ERP majors like SAP, Baan
and Peoplesoft are into tie-ups with Microsoft for COM-based ERP
applications. The demand for COM developers for the current year
alone is around 20,000, says the Keltron press release.
The advanced middleware technologies and socket communications
course of Keltron will have an intake capacity of 80 students.
Graduates and three-year diploma holders are eligible to apply.
Those with one-year experience in IT after a pass in Plus Two can
also apply. Application forms for the course are available at the
Keltron IT education centre, Spencer Junction,
Thiruvananthapuram, at a cost of Rs. 120. The last date for
submission of completed application form is September 25. The
course fee of Rs. 25,000 is payable in three installments. For
more details contact 0471-337450.
