Moopanar ashes immersed in sea

CHENNAI, SEPT. 9. The ashes of the TMC leader, G.K. Moopanar,
were immersed in the sea and rivers at various places - from
Thiruvaiyaru to Kanyakumari - today.
Urns containing the ashes were let into the Cauvery at
Thiruvaiyaru near Moopanar's home village and Srirangam, the
Bhavani near Erode, and in the sea at Rameswaram and Kanyakumari
besides Pondicherry. In Pondicherry, the Chief Minister, Mr. P.
Shanmugham, received the urn from the senior TMC leaders, Mr.
Tamizharuvimanian, and Mr. Muktha Srinivasan, and immersed it
into the sea.
The former State Congress women's wing president and senior TMC
leader, Ms. Lakshmi Albert, set the urn afloat in the Cauvery
waters even as scores of party cadres raised slogans hailing
Moopanar. While the senior TMC leader, Mrs. Jayanthi Natarajan,
and Mr. K.S. Alagiri, performed the immersion ceremony at
Srirangam, the TNCC president, Mr. E.V.K.S. Elangovan, joined the
TMC MLAs, Mr. S.R. Balasubramaniam and Mr. V.K. Lakshmanan, in
immersing the urn in the Bhavani.
At Rameswaram, Mr. S. Balakrishnan and K.Paramalai, MLAs were
among the TMC seniors who attended the ceremony, and in
Kanyakumari, former Union Minister, Mr. Danushkodi Adityan,
former MP, Mr. N.S.V. Chithan, and the former youth wing
president, Dr. A. Chellakumar, participated.
