House adjourned
By Our Staff Correspondent
BHOPAL, AUG. 30. The ruling Congress members in the Madhya
Pradesh State Assembly were today in an unrelenting mood over
``objectionable'' remarks made against a woman MLA in the House
on Wednesday by some BJP members.
The remarks passed against Ms. Pushpa Bhartiya of the Congress by
some BJP MLAs continued to agitate the ruling benches for the
second consecutive day and the issue was raised by Mr. Jodharam
Gurjar, Mr. P.C. Sharma and Ms. Kalpana Parulekar during question
hour today. The Speaker, Mr. Srinivas Tiwari, objected to the
issue being raised during question hour.
Following an intervention from some Ministers, the Congress
members took their seats but were immediately on their toes
shouting slogans. This led to an adjournment of proceedings for
half an hour. When the House reassembled, the Congress members
continued shouting slogans. This time, the proceedings were
adjourned till the end of lunch recess.
When the House met again for the post-lunch session, the Congress
members continued to shout slogans and the Speaker had to adjourn
the proceedings till tomorrow.
Addressing newsmen in the Assembly Press room today, the Leader
of the Opposition, Dr. Gauri Shankar Shejwar, alleged that it was
a pre-planned move by the Congress members to stall the
proceedings in the House as they wanted to divert people's
attention from the issue of alleged pay-off of crores of rupees
to the Chief Minister by a liquor manufacturer.
