Award for cine musicians
THE CINE Musicians Union honours more than 25 senior artistes of
the industry every year. The forum also gives the recipients cash
awards. The expenses are met by a music director who presents the
award.
This year Koti sponsored the awards which he gave away on August
18. Ilaiyaraaja, A. R. Rahman, M. M. Keeravani, S. A. Rajkumar
and Deva were the sponsors in the earlier years.
This year's ceremony took place at the union auditorium. P.
Susheela, K. J. Yesudas and S. P. Balasubramaniam were among
those who were honoured. The chief guest was vocalist O. V.
Subramanian.
Music director, M. S. Viswanathan, FEFSI president and director
K. Balachander, felicitated the award winners. Yesudas thanked
the Union and requested that the auditorium be given free of
charge to poor musicians to conduct marriage receptions.
The Union president, Mr. A. A. Raj, welcomed the gathering and
the secretary, Mr. Sarangapani, proposed a vote of thanks.
